Objective: To explore the effect of the Chinese medicine food on cancer radiotherapy's immunity.Method: 43 patients of cancer were divided into the experimental group and the control group randomly. For 2 weeks, the members of experimental group took a copy of the Chinese medicine food every morning, the members of control group without it. Before and after the experiment, agreed with all patients, the peripheral blood were examined for all of them when they were not eating in the morning. White blood cell (WBC), MDA(by TAB method), TNF-a(by ELLSA method), the lymphocyte apoptosis rate (by flow cytometry), the lymphocyte proliferation (by MTT method) and the lymphocyte transformation rate (by MTT method) were measured.Result: 1. Before the experiment, levels of MDA and TNF-a of the experimental group were 3. 07±0. 35nmol/ml and 58. 75±8. 97Pg/ml, the lymphocyte proliferation, lymphocyte transformation rate, lymphocyte apoptosis rate and WBC were 0. 55±0. 08,54. 06±3. 94%,6. 43±3. 17% and 6. 04±0. 49×10~9/L. Levels of MDA and TNF-a of the control group were 3. 04±0. 32nmol/ml and 54. 55±4. 74Pg/ml, the lymphocyte proliferation, lymphocyte transformation rate, lymphocyte apoptosis rate and WBC were 0. 52±0. 07,53. 78±3. 82%, 6. 26±2. 95% and 6. 13±0. 52×10~9/L. All differences between 2 groups were not significant (P>0. 05).2. After the experiment, levels of MDA and the lymphocyte apoptosis rate of the experimental group were 3. 56±0. 38nmol/ml and 13. 92±3. 61%, levels of MDA and the lymphocyte apoptosis rate of the control group were 4. 33±0. 29nmol/ml and 20. 37±2. 65%. The difference was most significant (P<0. 05). Levels of TNF-a,the lymphocyte proliferation, lymphocyte transformation rate and WBC of the experimental group were 39. 48±4. 29Pg/ml, 0. 47±0. 09, 51. 13±4. 07% and 5. 39±0. 35×10~9/L, deferents of TNF-a,the lymphocyte proliferation, lymphocyte transformation rate and WBC of the two group were 4. 17±1. 57Pg/ml,0. 11±0. 03,5. 27±0. 66% and 0. 36±0. 11×10~9/L. The difference was most significant (P<0. 05).3. In the experimental group, the levels of MDA and the lymphocyte apoptosis rate rose after the experiment. The levels of TNF-a, the lymphocyte proliferation,lymphocyte transformation rate and WBC fell after the experiment. In the control group, the levels of MDA and the lymphocyte apoptosis rate rose after the experiment. The levels of TNF-a,the lymphocyte proliferation,lymphocyte transformation rate and WBC fell after the experiment. The difference was most significant (P<0. 05). Conclusions: The Chinese medicine food restrain the fall of the immunity and lipid's oxidation during fadiotherapy, for example the fall of the lymphocyte proliteration and the amount of WBC. It. depress the side-effect and buildup the effect of radiotherapy.
