| Objictive: To research the characteristics of epidemiology and injury on motorcycle trafficaccident, to discuss the related factors which would easily result in death and invalidismassociated with injured people in motorcycle traffic accident, to analyze the characteristicsand related factors of the injured person's traumatic condition, invalidism and medicalexpense in later stage; in order to provide data bases on preventing and controlling road trafficaccident, emergency medical treatment of wound and the application of forensic medicine.Method: The systematical analysis research was carried out in 365 cases of judicialexpertise data associated with forensic medicine in 2004 and 2005, Kunming. Result:Proportion between the male and female is 4．14 to 1 in 365 cases in motorcycle accidents.The age distribution assumes to be the skew distribution. Injured people from 21 to 40 yearsold account for 62．7 percent. Peasant is the highest proportion in casualties. The motorcycletraffic accident frequently occurs from 19 to 0 p.m. in a day, which accounts for 36．4 percent.Trucks cause troubles more often than other vehicles. The crash between vehicle andmotorcycle is the majority of accident types, while the direction is the opposition. In thecasualties, the number of motorcyclist is the largest. Head injury is the most common reasonin the died. Injuries most result from collision and throwing. The distribution of injuryposition is centrifugal. Micro trauma is common in the degree of injury. The injury rate ofhead and prosopo in the macro trauma is higher than in the micro trauma. The constituentratio of macro trauma in aged people is higher than children and young people. Theevaluation of invalidism from 8 to 10 stage accounts for 87．6 percent. The medical cost inlater stage is from 2 thousand to 4 thousand yuan as principle, and the second is from 6thousand to 8 thousand yuan. Length of stay(LOS) between 15 days and 30 days is themajority of the wounded. The most common time distribution of invalidism evaluation is between 3 months and 6 months after been injured. The age distribution of motorcyclistassumes to the skew distribution, the mode is 25, from 21 to 40 years old account for 69．8percent in all motorcyclist. The rate of death and invalidism is the highest than others. Therate of injury in breast, abdomen, pelves, dorsum of hand and femoribus internus ofmotorcyclist is high than occupant on motorcycle. Micro trauma of the motorcyclist woundedis the most common, while the degree of invalidism is the 10 stage. The related factors ofdeath in motorcycle accident are head injury, mangled injury and fracture of thoracic cage.The related factors whether would cause invalidism are injury in abdomen and pelvis parts,head injury, fracture of upper extremity and lower extremity. Conclusion: Young men andmiddle age men are easily injured in motorcycle traffic accident, the rate of death andinvalidism which caused by motorcycle traffic accident is high. The rash hour of motorcycletraffic accident is from 19 to 0 in a day and the most deadly hour is from 1 to 6．The mostvictims are motorcyclists and occupants on motorcycle, the least is driver of vehicle. Thecommon type of collision is between vehicle and motorcycle. Different ways of transportationmay lead to various characteristic of injury. Micro trauma is common in the degree of injury.With the age rising, incidence of macro trauma increases gradually. The degree of disabilityfocus on slight invalidism while the incidence of disability of aged people is higher thanchildren and middle aged people. Injuries in breast, abdomen, pelvis and extremities are thecharacteristic injuries of motorcyclist. The closed related trauma of causing death are headinjury, mangled injury and fracture of thoracic cage. The closed related trauma of causingdisability are injury in abdomen and pelvis parts, head injury, fracture of upper extremity andlower extremity.
