Research On Clinical Forensic Medicine Of Maxillofacial Injury In Road Traffic Accidents

Objective:To research the characteristics on epidemiology and forensic clinical injury of maxillofacial injury in road traffic accidents.To identify related factors and characteristics on injury,disability evaluation and post-medical treatment costs.To provide a scientific data and evidence for the injury or disability evaluation of maxillofacial injury.Method:704 cases of maxillofacial injury caused by traffic accidents in kunming from 2006 to 2007 were collected for systemic analysis study.Results:In the 704 cases with maxillofacial injury,including 290 cases of injury degree evaluation(41%),disability evaluation 154 cases(22%)and post-medical treatment costs assessment 260 cases(37%).The injured epidemiological features:male,young,married,workers and farmers.(1)Identification of injury degree:13 cases with serious injury,163 cases of minor injury,114 cases of slight injury.Most of injuries were passengers,but the driver and copilot were seriously wounded;The number of identification injury accidents were mostly within one month.Soft tissue injury was mainly found and the minor was fractures that were all major in minor injury.(2)Disability evaluation:Clinical analysis of the 154 cases with injuries showed that 89 persons were disable(57.8%),among which one case wasâ…¤grade.Most of the cases of the overall grade distribution for the disabled wereâ…¨andâ…©grade.Most of disabilities were driver,followed by the copilot,the handicapped higher level occurred in the driver and copilot;The greatest number of cases of disability evaluation were 3-4 months after injuryed,The main characteristics of injuries were scar and pigmentation,followed by tooth loss.(3)Post-medical treatment costs assessment:Mainly concentrated in the 2000 to 4000 yuan. Post-medical treatment costs assessment of projects mainly concentrated in the scar treatment.The treatment of scars and pigment cost more concentrated in the less than 4,000 yuan.The injury degree was mainly in minor injuries,and had the active correlation with the post-medical treatment costs.Whether it is necessary to have second surgery and whether have complications were positively correlated to the post-medical treatment costs.Conclusion:Young,middle aged,married males and farmers are mainly injured in traffic accidents,disability occurrence of this group is very high.The driver and copilot were injured heavier.Soft tissue injury of Maxillofacial in identification of injury degree was most foundest,the rate of minor injury is very high.Minor disability mainly found in the disable cases.2000 to 4000 yuan mainly concentrated in the post-medical treatment costs assessment. Identification of injury degree,disability evaluation and post-medical treatment costs assessment have great relevance of social factors such as age,occupation,marital status,complexion and so on.
