| Objective To explore the mechanism of the preventment and treament of Steroid Induced Avascular Necrosis of the Femoral Head (SANFH) through electroacupuncture and to appraise the availability in preventment and treament of SANFH through electroacupuncture in order to instruct clinical treatment.Methods: 36 big mice were randomly divided into the blank group, the model group, the treatment group, each group of 12 big mice.Besides the blank group intramuscular injection physiological saline each week, the model group and the treatment group intramuscular injection sugar cortical hormone, the treatment group while makes the mold to treat with electroacupuncture. HE dye and immunohistochemistry study for blood vessel endothelial growth factor (VEGF) of the femoral head tissue were performed at the eighth week.Results:â‘ All the femoral heads were taken out at the ending of the eighth weeked. The surface of femoral heads was white, slice and firm in the blank group;while it was superficially blue and thin in the model group; slightly white and intermedial hard between blank and model group in treatment group.â‘¡Histomorphologic measurements showed that empty lacuna increased more significantly in the model group compared with the blank group and treatment group(P<0.01).The numbers of osteoblast and osteoclast in the model group was significantly reduced than group the blank group and treatment group(P<0.01).â‘¢The expression of VEGF measured by immunohistochemistry decreased significantly in model group compared with blank group and treatment group (P<0.01),and increased in treatment group compared with blank group(P<0.05). Conclusions: The electroacupuncture may relieved the pathological injury and enhanced repair process of the SANFH,reduces the empty lacuna rate, stimulates and maintains the expression of VEGF, promotes necrosis bone repair and the newborn bone regeneration.So it has the obvious preventing and treating function to the SANFH.
