Objective:The purpose of this study is to research the effect of using orbicularis oculi flap to reconstruct moderate eyebrow defect.Methods:Since 2003, 11 patients were chosen which included 3 males and 8 females. The ages were ranged from 16 to 52,and the average of them was 33.9 of patients got defects after nevus resection,while other 2 patients by fire burn.The defect length of each patient was between 1/3 and 1/2 whole length of eyebrow.The oprations cost 1.2 hours on average,and 3.8 hours in hospital.Before opration, routine and local eyebrow examination should be adopted.Postopration photographs should be taken.Surgeon marked defect range, and resure the area and shape of flap.Width of flap was 1/2-2/3 of eyebrow width.The shape of flaps were designed according to the eyebrow structure and defect size.The incisions were closed by 3-0 and 6-0 suture.Results:All the flaps were survived with primary healing.Only one patient got eyebrow depletion partly,which was less than 10% accounting for the whole flap.15 days to 1 year follow-up showed that the total choiceness rate is 90.9%.All the patients achieve good appearance and function.Conclusions:1,The method of orbicularis oculi flap for repairing eyebrow defect is effective.It has got rationality and innovation meaning.2,The color and quality of the flap is similar with eyebrow.After opration, the scar is hard to find and there are no eyebrow overstaffed.3,The opration is simple.There are no severe complication and important vessles damage after opration.4,It is a one-stage reconstruction.The cost of opration is less than other methods.
