Objective: To investigate the expression of group II secretory phospholipase A2 ( SPLA2-II ) on the gastric adenocarcinoma, evaluate the relation between the SPLA2-II expression and tumor differentiation , lymph node metastasis or helicobacter pylori infection. Methods:65 gastric adenocarcinoma and 11 common mucosa tissues specimens are collected from January, 2006 to April, 2007. There are 49 males and 16 females. Age varied from 30 to 79 with mean of years. Detect the expression of SPLA2-II on the tissue microarray with Streptavidin–Peroxidase method. Results: positive rate of SPLA2-II expression in normal gastric mucosa, gastric adenocarcinoma are36.4% (4/11), 78.5%(51/65) respectively. Those in poorly differentiated, moderately differentiated and well-differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma are 84.1%,70%,63.6%respectively. analytical factor of Spearman rank correlation rs is 0.272,P<0.05. SPLA2-II expression has nothing to do with age, gender, tumor size and location. positive rate of SPLA2-II expression in gastric adenocarcinoma without lymph node metastasis is 46.7% and the rate with lymph node metastasis is 88%,P<0.01. positive rate of SPLA2-II expression in gastric adenocarcinoma without helicobacter pylori infection is 76.5% and the rate with helicobacter pylori infection is 79.1%P>0.05. Conclusion: There is overexpression of SPLA2-II in the gastric adenocarcinoma. Expression of SPLA2-II in different differentiated cancer is different. Expression in poorly differentiated is higher than that in moderately differentiated and well-differentiated caner. The level of expression of SPLA2-II malignancy has positive correlation with malignancy degree of gastric adenocarcinoma. SPLA2-II expression has nothing to do with age, gender, tumor sizes, locations or helicobacter pylori infection.
