The Study Of Reliability And Validity Of The Scale For TCM Melancholia Of Both-heart-and-spleen Deficiency Type

With the purpose of further testing the reliability and validity of the scale for TCM Melancholia of both-heart-and-spleen deficiency type, and in order to explore the theory idea for depression of both-heart-and-spleen deficiency type, the indexes for measuring the scale have been deserved by the authors of this paper, by means of using the consensus diagnosis of two experts of traditional Chinese medicine by TCM differentiation of symptoms and signs as "golden standard", and then getting discriminant function and critical value by discriminatory analysis , then investigating the symptom materials by two attending physicians.Results: (1) The scale for TCM Melancholia of both-heart-and-spleen deficiency type has good reliability and validity, and can be used as diagnosis instrument for diagnosing depression of both-heart-and-spleen deficiency type. (2) By factor analysis, three typical factors has been extracted, ie. "factor of heart deficiency" , "factor of both-QI-and-blood deficiency" and "factor of both-heart-and-spleen-QI deficiency". The three factors have well embodied the theory idea of the both-QI-and-blood-of-both-heart-and-spleen deficiency existing in depression of both-heart-and-spleen deficiency type. (3) With the method of differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome of TCM, classifying the depression is feasible and significant.
