Abstract/Summary:
Objective: To investigate the correlations of the gene for the prostanoid DP receptor (PTGDR) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) C-549T with asthma and to identify the influences of the expression of asthma phenotypes. Methods: Firstly we identified and evaluated PTGDR C-549T SNP in case-control studies of sixty patients and thirty controls. The PTGDR SNP was detected with the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFFLP) analysis. Secondly we detected the serum protein levels of IL-4 by the sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method.Result: (1) There are three genotypes (CC CT TT)~- in the region of PTGDR -549 in asthmatic patients and healthy controls. Compare the TT genotype, the CC genotype was common among patients with asthma than the controls. But, compare the CT genotype , both the CC and TT genotypes were not determined some differences. The C allele of the T-549C SNP was significantly more common among patients with asthma than among the controls. (2)To determine the relations between genotypes and severity of asthma.
