Objective: to analyze and summarize the experiences in the diagnosisand treatment of chronic pancreatitis(CP) and to improve themanagement of this disease.Method: twenty-eight patients with CP admitted to our hospital from2002 to 2006 were reviewed, and the relevant clinical data wereanalyzed.Result: All patients had one or more checks of BUS, CT, MPJ, ERCP,MRCP; Alcohol is gradually becoming the most important etiologicalfactor in CP. Twelve patients(42.9%) had medicine therapy, fourteen(50.0%) had surgical interventions, and three(10.7%) endoscopictreatments. Conclusion: There are more complicated etiological factors andnon-specificity in clinical situations of chronic pancreatitis, so earlydiagnosis is difficult. Using BUS, CT and MRCP, especially ERCP andEUS, we can usually get an early diagnosis definitely. Pathology is thedependable method to identify diagnosis. Endoscopy opens a newprospect to our treatments. Due to small wound, few complications, it hasbeen used to relieve symptom in CP early stage and improve the qualityof lives. Endoscopy is in the elementary phase in our hospital, and itrequires further advance in theory and operation.
