The Research Of Mini-implants As Anchorage To Stress Down Teeth On Young Dogs

Objective: An experiment was carried out to study mini-implants as anchorage to stress down teeth on young dogs.Methods:For this purpse we choose 6 young dogs(6～8mo 7～10kg). After anaesthesia and disinfect,wo put mini-implant into the bone from the buccal and legal side of the teeth P2,P3,about 10mm under the edge of the gum.Two weeks later we connect the implants at both sides of the teeth with powerchain(150g),which stress down the teeth.We change the powerchain 1 time for 2weeks,8weeks in total.The opposite mandibular bone without implants served as a control group.After 8 weeks,6 anesthetized animals were fixed by intracardiac,measurement,taking X-ray.And the segments with mini-implant were dissected for evaluations by histological slice (calcified slice).The rate of osseointegration was measured by Image-Pro. Plus 4.5 on the longitudinal calcified sections.Result:1.Gross studies:in 24 mini-implants 83.78% are stable,16.22% are failed.Few of them have some infection around the neck of the mini-implant and soft tissue hyperplasia.2.The result of measurement of the bone between test group and contral group was dealt with Windows SPSS 10.0 . All of them have no significant difference.3.The teeth P2,P3 of the 6 dogs are pressed down evidently by powerchain.The teeth P2 are pressed down 1.47mm on average and the teeth P3 are pressed down 0.98mm on average.4. Calcified slice and decalcified slice are slown peri-implant partially touched the mini-implant surface.The rate of osseointegration(%) betweenthe bone and the titanium surface is 25.48+1.58%.For a few mini-implants there are some inflamed cells around the neck of them. Teeth near by the implants are normal.5.The mini-implants are easily pulled out by the screws after being used.There was no broken.Conclusion:1.Mini-implant as anchorage can stress down teeth evidently on young dogs.2.Mini-implant as anchorage have no effect on the dento-alveolar develop on young dogs.The teeth near by the implants are normal.3.After a short time.There is only a slight osseintegration between the bone and the titanium surface.4.Mini-implant is easy to pull out with the screws.5.The area near by the implants should better avoid the labial and lingual frenula.It is very important keep intraoral. hygiene.
