Medical Visualization is a multi-disciplinary subject. It is an important application of computer graphics and image processing in biomedicine. It relates to the subjects of digital image processing, computer graphics and some related knowledge of medical. 3D reconstruction and visualization of medical images are widely used in diagnostic, surgery planning and simulating, plastic and artificial limb surgery, radiotherapy planning, and teaching in anatomy. Study on Medical Visualization from medical images has important significance on science and worthiness in practical application. The decimation of highly detailed meshes has emerged as an important issue in medical graphics related fields. In the last few years, there has been an explosion in model size, due to improvements in resolution and accuracy of data acquisition of data devices.This dissertation summarizes the present status, both domestic and abroad, of medical image visualization. There are many important application in medical field by reconstructing 3Dstructure by 2D slices. In this dissertation, the key technologies of 3D reconstruction from medical CT are studied. This paper discuss the Marching cubes algorithm, which is a widely implemented iso-surface generation method.Because medical data sometimes is large size, Accelerating techniques become very important. Accelerating techniques for the extraction of iso-surface is discussed. We compare four Accelerating techniques. A modified MC algorithm is presented with cache mechanism, which can greatly reduce the redundant calculation and visit on grid points.And then this paper presents a new triangulate method in vertex-removed algorithm, based on some special aspect of the mesh as a result of MC algorithm. This can be thought as a combination of vertex remove and edge collapse method.The contrastive experiment shows that cache mechanism based MC runs with great efficiency. And the new triangulate method in vertex-removed algorithmcan reduce the decimation time and improve the speed, at the same time, the decimation result have little difference contrast to input.
