Supported by the national 973 project (2003CB517108), study on the relationship between the wrist pulse wave and cardiovascular pathological diagnosis is conducted in this thesis. The practical applications of the project are discussed, and two sets of pulse-wave acquisition equipments which are better than other ones in this area are developed. Have compared with some other methods used previously, a new one suitable for nonlinear and non-stationary digital signal sequence called HHT method is adopted to deal with the wrist pulse signals, which is an innovation in this paper. The EMD and HH spectrum programs are written in Fortran and Matlab, respectively. A time series constructed from a set of standard cyclic functions is first treated with using the EMD method to verify the applicability and effectiveness, and then the influence of implanting a stent into the coronary artery on the wrist pulse signals is also discussed. We find the system can satisfy the academic requirement of our project. After the analysis of healthy people who are grouped in their age, the X-wave was proposed for the first time.
