[Background and Aims] The irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder characterized by abdominal pain/discomfort and alter bowel habits. The change of bowel sensitivity involved in the IBS is considered as an important mechanism currently. In IBS , major life stress situations precede onset and/or exacerbation of symptoms and many observations suggested that symptoms either disappear or improve following resolution of major life stress problem. Psychological factors have been implicated in the etiology of IBS. Corticotropin-releasing factor is a key hormone integrated response to stress, acting as the major regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Recently local production of CRF has been detected in peripheral tissues outside the brain. Many researchers found that CRF pay a key role in stress-related disease, such as atopic dermatitis (AD) and psoriasis ect .May CRF play a role in IBS either? Mast cell are ubiquitous in the body and critical for allergic reactions, as they secrete numerous vasoactive molecules and cytokines. Increasing evidence hower indicates, that mast cells also secrete proinflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6,5-HT and are involved in neuroinflammatory processes. In previous studies, ileal biopsies from IBS patients exhibit great number of mucosal mast cells as compared to healthy volunteers and other experiments found that mast cells were close to nerves in colon mucosa. Consequently, mast cells are possibly responsible of the symptoms of IBS. We made visceral hypersensivity modle of IBS, and study the role of CRF and mast cells.[Methods] 36 SD rats of male were divided into three groups: control group(intraperitoneal injection of distilled water), group A(intraperitoneal injection of chicken egg albumin) , group B (intraperitoneal injection of chicken egg...
