Obijective: To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionaire (SDQ) of 6-16-year-olds in school. To improve the possibility if it can be applied in China. Method:A 5 townwide epidemiological sample of 5392 Chengdu 6-17year-olds obtained SDQsfrom81.5%of parents, 89.17%ofteachers, and96.24%of12-17-year-olds. Data were analyzed with Npar (nonparametric) test because of it's partial distribution We analyzed Cronbach [alpha] for internal-consistency, Spearman-Brown formula for split-half , Spearman correlation for correlation analysis and varimax rotation factor analysis for construct validity.Result: Reliability was generally satisfactory, Whether judged by inter consistency (mean Cronbach [alpha] :0.796),split-half(mean: 0.798) and retest stability after 1 to 2 weeks (mean: 0.834).The correlation coefficients between each factors and the scale were mean 0.657,which were higher than between the factors (mean: 0.350). The correlation coefficients between the equivalent SDQ and YSR were (mean:0.50), the equivalent SDQ and CBCLwere(mean:0.48). Cross-informant correlation (mean: 0.18) .All...
