Objective: We design this theme in order to discuss the relationship among the performance of unilateral and bilateral LPCA ligation in rabbits' eyes , the expression of VEGF and the impact on IOP.Methods : 18 adult New Zealand white rabbits , weighing about 2.5kg , were radomly divided into two groups , the left eye of every one was chosed to be experimented on , and the other was the contrast . Unilateral LPCA was ligated in Group A and bilateral LPCAs were ligated in Group B . The changes of IOP and ischemia manifestations were observed . The aqueous humor taken respectively from the rabbits before operation , and 4 days , 1 week , 13 weeks after operation was tested by ELISA kit for Rabbit VEGF ; And the samples of eyes wall 4 days, 1 week, 13 weeks after operation were taken for HE and immunohistochemical stain to watch the pathological changes and to locate the cells expressing the VEGF protein . And to explore the relationship between the changes and IOP .Results :(1) General observation : Bilateral-LPCA-ligation group suffered immediate , severe ischemia resulted in cornea edema opacity and neovascularization , aqueous humor turbidity , pupil enlarged , iris ischemia or necrosis , cataract , even eyeball shrink ; Unilateral-LPCA-ligation group suffered slightly cornea edema , and iris vasculars compensatory expansion . Aqueous humor and lens seemed normal. The control group just manifested a short-term and slightly...
