Objective: Through this retrospective study on the diabetic retinopathy (DR) patients in our hospital during recent two years, we expect to find a way of combination of TCM with Western to improve the treatment for DR.Method: 153 eyes of 84 cases of DR, divided into 3 groups randomly: herb group, laser group and combination group. Evaluate the effects of each group.Results: Combination group has much better clinical effect than herb group and laser group. Simple DR has better clinical effect than proliferative DR. In the aspect of new vessel treatment, the effect of laser group and combination group is much better than herb group, and there is no significant difference between laser group and combination group. In the aspect of proliferative diabetic retinopathy vitreous organization, herb group and combination group have better results than laser group.Conclusion: Combination of TCM with Western can offer a satisfactory effect to the treatment for DR.
