Objective: To evaluate the anus functions in low rectal cancer patients after coloanal anastomosis. Methods: 51patients of low rectal cancer who underwent Anus-retained operation during 2004-2005were followed up for 1 year about anal functions (23 patients operated with coloanal anastomosis ,28 patients operated with ultra-low colorectum anastomosis—compared group ).The resting pressure of anus (RP),the maximal squeezing pressure of anus(MSP),the rectal volume at senory threshold(FP),the maximal tolerable volume rectum(MTV),and the rectal compliance (RC) were assessed with anorectal manometry during 3,6,12 months after operation. we simultaneously recorded five aspects of defection : defecation sensation ,defecation frequency ,awareness of defecation, defecation controlling time and anal controlling force. All the got date were dealt with statistical analysis .By this means , we evaluate the influence on the anus functions after coloanal anastomosis.Result: 1) In group A , there was significant change in RC,MTV during different period (3,6,12 months) after operation(P<0.05),and the upper results gradually advanced. RC, MTV decreased significantly in 3 months (p<0.05), but had no significantly change in 6-12moths after operation in group A compared with group B. There was no significant change in RP, MSP, FP between group A and B.2) The defecation sensation, awareness of defecation, defecation frequency, defecation time of group A advanced significantly in 6-12 months after operation (p<0.05). The level...
