Objective1, To test whether polysomnography(PSG) indexes are associated with sleepiness and OSAHS specific quality of life at baseline and as outcome measures following surgical treatment for patients with obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).2, To evaluate the objective and subjective outcomes of surgical treatment for 13 patients with OSAHS. Methods1, There were 43 confirmed OSAHS cases diagnosed by PSG in this prospective longitudinal study. All underwent an upper airway examination (nasofibroscopy with the muller maneuver and 3- dimensional computed tomography) and the obstructive sites were judged.Based on obstructive sites, a single or a combined surgical treatment was performed to resolve the obstruction sites. All patients were measured with PSG indexes, Epworth sleepiness scale(ESS) and OSAHS specific quality of life-Quebec sleep questionnaire (QSQ) before surgical treatment and 13 patiants were measured with the same content 6-8 months after surgical treatment. Correlations between baseline PSG and subjective measures (ESS and QSQ) and correlations between change in PSG and subjective measures(ESS and QSQ) were examined with Spearman correlations and Partial correlations.2, For the 13 patiants, we evaluate the outcomes of surgical treatment comparing PSG indexes, ESS and QSQ with Wilcoxon signed ranks test.
