Objective: Sanjiaocao originates from the dry herb or root of Chlorophytum laxum R. Bro Chlorophytum laxum R. Br is mainly distributed in south China. The aerial part of the plant is used as a folk medicine for the treatment of traumatic injury, poisonous snake bites, swelling and pain. In order to find out the bioactive constituents, we made a system isolation study on the chemical constituents of Chlorophytum laxum R. Br.Method: The air-dried materials were powdered and extracted with 95% ethanol two times. The ethanol extract was subjected to column chromatography on silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column to give eight compounds. The structures of those compounds were identified on the basis of physical-chmical constants and spectral data(UV, IR, FAB-MS, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, DEPT, HMQC, H-HCOSY, HMBC).Result: In this thesis, The structures of the eight compounds determined as Chlorophytoside A (I), hecogenin (II), 4',5,7-trihydroxy-6,8-di-C-methyflavone (III), Stigmastan (IV), Daucosterol (V), palmitric acid (VI), β -sitostero 1 (VII), respectively. Compound I was a new Labdane Diterpene Glycoside. Copound II—VII were isolated from Chlorophytum laxum R. Br for the first time. Compound VIII still has being identified.
