Objective: To analysis the characters of the aged patients with upper-gastrointestinal hemorrhage compared with the relative younger patients.Methods: We divide all patients with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage into two classes: the age is more than 60 years; and the age is less than 60 years. Compare the two classes in etiology, clinical symptoms, company symptoms and prognosis. All patients had undergone gastric endoscopic examination. Results: The aged class can offer more detailed history about provoke factors; the aged class have more severe anemia, higher blood urine nitrogen(BUN), longer hospital days; the aged class have more gastric cancer patients and less acute gastric-mucus lesion patients. The aged class have more company diseases. The aged class has a relative poorer prognosis .Conclusion: The aged patients with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage have their characters: their symptoms are more severe and develop faster, the prognosis are poorer.
