Objective: To analyze the tridimensional personality characteristics of heroin addicts. To explore the differences of the tridimensional personality characteristics between the heroin addicts and their first degree relatives. To explore the relationship between the personality characteristics and the mental health state in the group of heroin addict.Methods: To investigate and test the personality character of 113 general adults, 100 heroin addicts and 55 heroin addicts's first degree relatives. The TPO inventory is based on the Tridimensional Personality Theory. According to the theory, personality constitutes three elements, they are Novelty-Seeking(NS), Harm-Avoidance(HA), Reward-Dependence(RD) . the three dimensions are correlated with the corresponding neurotransmitter which are respectively dopamine (DA), 5-Hydroxy- tryptamine(5-HT) and norepinephrine(NA). each dimension consists of four agents, and to test the normal information, To test the psychical state with the SCL-90 invertory. then F-test is performed in order to compare the disparity of the TPQ score among the three groups , heroin addicts group , heroin addicts's first degree relative group, the control group.
