Objective To investigate the prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM) in women of single Pregnancy in Kunming city ,China, and search associated high-risk factors with GDM development.Methods In a prospective study, a 2-h 75g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) was performed in 2936 pregnant women receiving antenatal care . Among them , there are 2078 women at 28-32 weeks of gestation. During 36 months period (from January 2003 to December 2005) in a teaching hospital, the GDM was diagnosed according to WHO criteria in 1998 . The period prevalence of GDM and related risk factors in Kunming was obstained.Results 1, The period prevalence of GDM is 11.6% in local area .2, Maternal age and BMI at OGTT in GDM group were significantly higher than those of the control group . 3, Maternal age and BMI at OGTT were significantly associated to OGTT Oh and OGTT 2h glucose values.
