Studies On Anti-Cerebral Ischemia Effects And Mechanism Of Action Of CXB

The effects of CXB on cerebral ischemia and the mechanism of action was preliminarily studied in this paper.The gasping time of isolated head of mice ,the survival time of mice subjected to bilateral carotid artery ligation and the survival time of mice in normobaric hypoxia were all obviously prolonged and the stroke index of mice was reduced following CXB treatmet (12.5 , 25, 50 mg/kg, iv),which implied CXB improved energetic metablism in brain tissue.Pretreatment with CXB ,the malondiadehyde (MDA) content in ischemia-reperfusion injuried mice brain tissue and the water content and MDA content of brain in cerebral ischemic rats(9 , 18 , 36mg/kg,iv) could also be reduced. Both treatment and pretreatment with CXB at 9, 18, 36mg/kg could decrease the score of neurological deficits after middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) in rats. Moreover,CXB pretreatment prevented the increase of cerebral infarction areas in rats. The MDA content in plasma and brain tissue and nitric oxide (NO) content in brain tissue significantly increased ,while the SOD activity in plama and brain tissue decreasd in local cerebral ischemia rats induced by occluding the middle artery ,CXB treatment suppressed these effects.
