Chemical constituents of Panax quinquefolium, separation of grouped ginsenosides, quality standard of RP tablet and immunostimulating activity of individual ginsenoside were studied.Fifteen compounds were isolated from Panax quinquefolium, eleven of them were characterized as ginsenoside-Rb1,-Rb2, -Re,-Rg1,-Rg2,-Rd,-Rh1,20(R)-Rh1,-F1, β -sitosterol and daucosterol on the basis of spectral analysis and chemical methods.In addition, the separation of grouped ginsenosides were studied. The result showed the method of ion exchanged resin is superior to other methods and more than 70% of grouped ginsenosides can be obtained.A RP-HPLC method was developed for the determination of ginsenoside-Rgi in RP tablet. The calibration curves were linear in range of 1.02-8.16 μg, the average recoveries (%) were 98.99% with RSD of 0.76%.Ginsenoside-F3 was screened from twenty-six ginsenosides, can remarkably improve the proliferation of murine spleen cells. Immunostimulating activity was studied by effects of ginsenoside-F3 on Th1 and Th2 in order to develop ginsenoside-F3 as immunoenhancer.
