Objective: To investigate the changes of plasma Neuropeptide B(NPB) and resistin levels, and assess the association between plasma NPB, and resistin, insulin as well as other factors in the population with different glucose tolerances. Methods: Plasma NPB and resistin levels were evaluated using a commercially available ELISA in 23 subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), 20 subjects with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT),and 23 normal control subjects (NC). The relationship between plasma NPB, resistin levels and body mass index (BMI), insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR), plasma glucose, insulin, blood fat levels were also analyzed by bivariate and multivariate regression analyses. Results: Fasting plasma NPB levels in T2DM were significantly increased compared with IGT and NC groups ([7.84土1.93)μg/L vs (5.74土1.79)μg/L and (6.18土2.35)μg/L (P<0.01) ] .The plasma resistin levels of fasting and 2h glucose overload in T2DM were significantly reduced...
