Clinical Analysis On Oxygen Saturation And Blood Gas Values After Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

Objective: To study the changes of blood oxygen saturation and blood gas values and the relationship between SpO₂ and SaO₂ after severe traumatic brain injury Method: One hundred patients with acute severe head injury following the Glasgow coma scale were studied. From the first day to the seventh after injury, pulse oxygen saturation (SpO₂) was monitored by uninvassived monitor and blood sample from thigh arterial at the same time were analyzed.Results: The changes of blood oxygen saturation can reflect the brain injury progress and air way obstruction. Blood gas values can demonstrate the acid-base disturbances, which has close relation with the prognosis.Conclusions: Blood oxygen saturation monitoring is very helpful for the severe brain in jury, blood gas analysis can find hypoxia and acid-base disturbances early.
