Objective The aims of this restrospective study were l)to study the expression and correlation of Survivin, E-cad and Ki-67 in epithelial ovarian tumor ,2) to investigate their clinical significance in ovarian cancer, 3 ) to estimate the value of the expression of them in pathogenesis, progression and prognosis of ovarian cancer. Methods This study included 3 groups of patients treated in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Second Hospital of Liaocheng, between January 1997 and December 2004. Formalin-fixed paraffin sections of 51 cases of ovarian cancer , 13 cases of ovarian borderline tumors and 50 cases of benign tumors were studied immunohistochemically for Survivin, E-cad and Ki~67. All of the patients of ovarian cancer were confirmed by operations and pathological examinations, there was no prophylactic chemotherapy or other therapy performed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression of these three gene in epithelial ovarian tumor , and analyze the correlation between the expression of them and surgical-pathologic staging, pathologic grade, histological type, ascites and lymph node metastasis of the ovarian cancers. The positive control slides were obtained from the provider of the antibodies, using streptavidin-peroxidase(S-P) method. X~2 test in the SPSS 10.0 software wrap was performed. Significance was considered at the 0.05 level. Results All the sections were examined by light microscopy to assess qualitatively the presence or absence of immunostaining. Results were...
