Background:Spleen Tyrosine (Y) Kinase (Syk) is a protein-tyrosine kinase whose expression has been found in various cells such as the hematopoietic, lymphocyte, fibroblast and vascular endothelial cells. Human Spleen Tyrosine (Y) Kinase (Syk)locus was mapped to be chromosome 9 at band q22,made up of 629 amino acids, molecular weighted 72KD.Syk gene is considered as a candidate anti-oncogene.Syk expression in colonic carcinoma was not reported. Objective:To evaluate the effects of the Syk gene expression in human colonic carcinoma on tumor growth and metastasis. Methods:The expression of Syk gene in the 40 fresh freezed tissues of colonic carcinoma patients(tumor tissues, adjacent normal tissues)was detected by RT-PCR technique.ResuIts:All nomal colonic tissues were detected the expression of the Syk gene.Compare to nomal tissues,27out of40 colonic carcinoma did not show any detectable Syk expression. And there were...
