Purpose: Cataract is one of the most reasons which cause blindness in the world. Especially in China, it ranks first. At present, to the cataract patients, the main therapy method for recovering vision relies on operation. In recent years, with the development of ophthalmologic micrurgy and the improvement in micro instrument, the cure methods of cataract is gradually turning from recovering vision operation to refraction operation. The cataract patients do not need only a certain extent recovering their sight but also better and more comfortable visual acuity. So, it is more important for ophthalmologist to reduce the corneal astigmatism caused by surgery as far as possible. The prospective study will aim to investigate the problem what do phacoemulsification with clear corneal incisions in different sites and by diverse surgical moduses combined posterior chamber folding intraocular lens implantation have the effect on corneal astigmatism. We wish that it will establish a rationale of choosing the best operation incision site in clinical cataract cure. Methods: 81 eyes of 65 age-related cataract patients were divided into three groups at random. They were treated with three kinds of different surgical techniques: clear corneal oblique incision at temporal side (A group: 22 cases, 28 eyes), clear corneal oblique incision at 11 O'clock (B group: 22 cases, 26 eyes), clear corneal tunnel incision at 11 O'clock (C group: 21 cases, 27 eyes). The length of all incisions is 3.2 millimeter. The conventional phacoemulsification was operated by the same ophthalmologist. On the first day before operation, 1 st, 7 th day, 1 and 3 months after operation, every eye was had eyesight tested and examined with retinoscope, corneal topography and slit lamp microscope. Three groups' records and findings were compared by use of statistical analysis. Results: Preoperatively, the mean astigmatism was (0.51±0.27)D in group A, (0.52±0.31)D in group B and (0.50±0.27)D in group C, respectively. At 1 day, 1week, and...
