BackgroundIn people over 50 years'old, ostarthritis (OA) is second only cardiovascular disease in disease leading to prolonged disability. Though many new therapeutic methods occurs, they cann't intercept patho-destruction of articulation, not to mention the histological repairment of articular cartilage in histology. Presently the purpose of treatment is to relieve pain, reduce the rate of disabilility, and improve joint function and quality of life. PurposeHyaluronic acid (HA) and triptolide (TP) have therapeutical effect for OA of earlier period, and HA can delay the releasing of drug by binding with drug, so compound of TP and HA can possiblely intercept the development of OA by immune suppression, anti-inflammatory, protecting and repairing articular cartilage. Therefore we investigated therapeutic effect of the compound of TP and HA and approached possible mechanism of action in this experiment. Method1. Induction of experimental OAHalf milliliter collagenase solution (2mg collagenase) was intra-articular injected into the both knee joint of rabbits twice at 1st day and 4th day. Three animals were inspected by X-ray and MRI, and were killed at 4th week after the 2nd injection. One milliliter saline was used to wash articular cavity. The saline, cartilage tissue and membrana synovialis were got from their knees. The effect of experimental OA model was evaluated by detection of the examples.2. Treatment of experimental OA in rabbit with different concentration compound of TP and HA (The group of experiment, table 1).
