ObjectiveThe aim of the study is to find out needs and situation of health services with respect to post-abortion family planning Service (PAFPS) in hospitals in Beijing, and to make some strategic suggestions about how to develop quality PAFPS in Beijing.The objectives of this paper are six-fold: (1) To examine the gap between needs related to PAFPS and situation of abortion service in Beijing; (2) To overview existing resources that can be used for PAFPS; (3) To analyze existing flow and process of abortion service into which PAFPS could be integrated; (4) To learn abortion service providers' knowledge, attitude and practice(KAP) with respect to PAFPS; (5) To design a PAFPS evaluation system especially for Beijing; (6) To bring forward some strategic suggestions about how to develop quality PAFPS in Beijing.MethodsThis study is a cross-sectional study. Parsons' AGIL Model(Adaptive function, Goalattaining function, Integration function and Latent pattern maintaining function) was utilized as the framework of implementing project and analyzing results. Qualitative research, quantitative survey and situation analysis approach were used for data collection. The contents of the questionnaire were inputted into the computer twice, by two special typists by using Epidata software and the errors were corrected to assure the veracity of the data. The corrected data was analyzed by using SPSS statistics software. Statistical analysis methods include chi-square test, t-test and logistic regression.Results1, Goal attaining/needs assessment: Repeated abortion rate of all 2130 investigated women was 50.8%, and that of 1008 women younger than 25 year old was 36.9%. The high risk abortion rate was 7.6%. The shortest interval between two abortions was only 2.5 months, and 45.5% women experienced two abortions within one year. 60.2% of the current pregnancies were associated with non-use of contraceptives; other 39.8% of them were related to...
