Objective:The present study is designed to explore the availability and effective evaluation of acupuncture combined with decoction in treating primary Trigeminal Neuralgia in blood stasis syndrome through contrasting with clinical therapy between acupuncture combined with decoction and Carbamazepine and to find a method of well stable efficacy and few side-effects .Methods:i)Applying the method of experts' evaluation, screening the main clinical indexes according to instructive principle of clinical study on traditional and new Chinese medicine, defining their weight and making estimation about their reliability based on the contribution of main and minor symptoms, then judging patient's condition and classifying into three grades: light, middle and severe, making the symptomatic grading and quantifying standards, ii) 60 patients are divided into two groups at random: therapy group and control group, cases in therapy group are cured with acupuncture combined with creative decoction;cases in control group are treated with Carbamazepine. The course of treatment is 30 days.iii) Evaluation of efficacy is made by comparing visual analog pain scores and quantificar scores of symptoms between pre-treatment and post-treatment Result:The clinical observations show that the difference between the two groups is insignificant at the aspect of improving VAS Scores and quantificar scores of symptoms(p>0.05).And there is a very significant difference in curing the minor symptoms between the two groups (p<0.05). The results show that acupuncture combined with creative decoction has the same effect as Carbamazepine. ConcIusion:The effect of acupuncture combined with creativedecoction in treating primary Trigeminal Neuralgia in blood stasis syndrome is persuasive, furthermore it prefers to Carbamazepine in improving the minor symptoms. It has safety and little side-effects. The making of symptomatic grading and quantifying standards is stable and reliable. It provides the basis for the standardization of clinical study on TN...
