The Clinical Effect Report Of Bushentiaoxuetang Decoction Treatment For Degenerative Knee Osteoarthritis

Objective: 1.To approach the availability and predominance of traditional Chinese medicine treatment for Degenerative Knee Osteoarthritis. 2. To evaluate the clinical effect and safety of Bushentiaoxuetang Decoction treatment for Degenerative Knee Osteoarthritis.Materials and method: 38 patients(60 knees) diagnosed with Degenerative Knee Osteoarthritis were selected from out-patient department of the first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou university of TCM and Australia Gu Chan Chinese Medicine Clinic during Oct ,2004 to May ,2005. The present series of in-patients was comprised of 17 male (27 knees) and 21 female (33 knees);Aged from 49 to 73 years old, averaged 60. 24 years old. They were accepted the treatment of Bushentiaoxuetang Decoction. The follow-up time ranged from 6 to 12 months (average 9. 5 months). Patient were evaluated by unified score system and therapeutic effect evaluation standard at pre-therapy and post-therapy respectively. The statistic results were test by Epitable software. Results: The good-to-excellent rate of articulation of knee score before therapy is 15. 7%, but after the therapy, it is 73.7%;The good-to-excellent rate of functional score before therapy is 15. 7%, but after the therapy is 94. 7 %.The upper two comparison results between pre-therapy and post-therapy is in P<0. 05 by Ridit analysis。Conclusion: 1. The treatment for Degenerative Knee Osteoarthritis with traditional Chinese medicine which is affected by buyiganshen and huoxuetiaoxue is feasible. 2. The treatment for Degenerative Knee Osteoarthritis with Bushentiaoxuetang Decoction had a confirmable clinical result and a well predominance, especially , which can be performed for long term because it does not have any side effects.
