Surgical Treatment Of Intra-articular Fractures Of The Calcaneus

Objective: To evaluate the clinical results of surgical treatment of intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus using plastic titanic alloy plate.Methods: From 2000. 8 to 2004. 12 ,there were 31 calcaneal fractures involving in articulate talocalcanea in 25 cases including 21calcaneal fracture in 17 males and 10 calcaneal fracture in 8females ;16 cases of falling and 6 of traffic accident and 3 of other ; age ranged from 19 to 54 years ( average of 28.5year s) . Open reduction and internal fixation with plastic titanic alloy plate were performed in all cases .Results: Among these patients who were treated with this plate,26 fractures of 21 cases followed up for an average time of 18.6 months(from 6 to 48 months).Evaluated by the Maryland foot score :22 fractures were excellent and good , the excellent and good rate was 84.6 %.Conclusion: Plastic calcaneal titanic alloy plate is fit to anatomy of the calcaneus and has obvious advantage in operative treatment of calcaneal fracture. Combined with CPM early function exercises, it provides satisfactory result with few complication.
