Objective: To explore the feasibility of surgical operation on stage II b cervical cancer after new adjuvant chemotherapy by analyzing 85 cases of stage II b cervical cancer with surgical operation. Methods: A retrospective study was carried out on 85 patients with stage II b Cervical cancers with surgical operation admitted to our hospital from March 2003 to March 2006,cases divided into surgery group in combination with chemotherapy and direct surgery group, we compared surgery time, bleeding quantity, indwelling catheter time, complication, pelvic lymphatic metastasis rate etc. of two groups. Results: pathological examination revealed 85 cases surgical margin were negative, pelvic lymphatic metastasis was found in 8 cases of surgery group in combination with chemotherapy, pelvic lymphatic metastasis rate was 13.8%; pelvic lymphatic metastasis was found in 11 cases of direct surgery group, pelvic lymphatic metastasis rate was 40.7%, new adjuvant chemotherapy before surgery can reduce pelvic lymphatic metastasis rate significantly, however surgery time, bleeding quantity, indwelling catheter time, complication of two groups showed no significance. Conclusions: New adjuvant chemotherapy is benefit to radical surgery for stage II b cervical cancer, new adjuvant chemotherapy before surgery in combination with surgical operation are effective and new method for treatment of Cervical cancer stage II b, it can increase surgery rate.
