Objective: By observing and analyzing the clinical effect for internal fixation with a modified French technique in cubitus varus deformity and the related analysis of this effect. Methods: 38 cases with cubitus varus were collected and therapeutic efficacy was analyzed. They were respectively treated with the fixations randomly in three groups, and then 22 of them had received internal fixation with a modified French technique (Group A) and 10 of them with closed-crossed Kirschner wies(Group B), and the rest had received internal fixation with plates(Group C). Functional exercises are needed after the operation. The therapeutic efficacy of the Cubitus extension and flexion function and the recovery of the lead angle were compared, analyzed and treated with statistical method among the three groups. Results: the indication of statistical treatment demonstrated that the internal fixation with a modified French technique have more advantages than the other two groups in cubitus active level and recovery of lead angle after operation. That is to say, internal fixation with a modified French technique is better than internal fixation either with closed crossed Kirschner wies or plates in wedge supracondylar osteotomy of humerus for cubitus varus. Conclusion: The internal fixation with a modified French technique has great effect on the healing wedge supracondylar osteotomy of humerus for cubitus varus. Compared with other therapy methods, as far as the extent to so easy to perform technically, less local injury in operation, effective curative effects, no need of the second operation, and no complication are concerned, there comes a conclusion that internal fixation with a modified French technique is better than other internal fixations in wedge supracondylar osteotomy of humerus for cubitus varus. For it is a technically easy to perform and carries few risks of complications.
