Objective: To observe clinical outcome for thetreatment of neovascular glaucoma(NVG) with differentsurgical management. Methods: 40cases(41eyes) of NVGwith different surgical management were analysedretrospectively. All cases were divided into three groups:Group A: Trabuculectomy with MMC was performed in 12cases(13eyes) which had visual acuity and clear refractivemedia with a little neovascularization on the surface of iris.Photocoagulation conducted by fundus fluoresceinangiography was performed in two weeks after operation.Group B:Cryotherapy on peripheral retina and ciliary wasperformed in 13cases(13eyes) which had lost visual functionand had thick neovascularization on the surface of iris. GroupC: Trabeculectomy combining cryotherapy on peripheralretina and ciliary was performed in fifteen cases (fifteen eyes)which had visual acuity and refractive media opacity. Results:The IOP in 9cases were controlled in group A. Therate of success was 69.1%. The IOP in 2 eyes was controlledwith additional drugs which could reduce the IOP. After thefollowing surgery of cryotherapy on ciliary in 2 cases , theirIOP was controlled. The IOP in 9cases were controlled ingroup B. The rate of success was 69.1%. The IOP in 2 eyeswere controlled with additional drugs which could reduce theIOP. After the following surgery of cryotherapy on ciliary in1 cases , their IOP was controlled with additional drugswhich could reduce the IOP. The symptom caused by highIOP was releaved in 1 cases, though his IOP was higher than21 mmHg. The IOP in 12cases were controlled in group C.The rate of success was 80%. The IOP in 2 eyes werecontrolled with additional drugs which could reduce the IOP.After the following surgery of cryotherapy on ciliary in2cases , IOP of 1cases was controlled. The symptom causedby high IOP was releaved in 1 cases, though his IOP washigher than 30mmHg. Group A: The visual acuity wasimproved in 5cases and was preserved in 6cases .One eyehad lost visual function. Group C: The visual acuity wasimproved in 5cases and was preserved in 7 cases .Three eyeshad lost visual function. The neovascularization on thesurface of iris was disappeared in 1~3 weeks.Thepostoperative complications were hyphema, flat anteriorchamber, choroidal detachment and atrophy of eyeball. Conclusion: Vaious surgical management for NVG can bechoosed according to the different condition. Trabuculectomywith MMC was performed in cases which had visual acuityand clear refractive media with a little neovascularizationon the surface of iris.Photocoagulation conducted by fundusfluorescein angiography was performed in two weeks afteroperation.
