Objective: The reseaach of the binocular vision and contrast sensitivity function after bilateral implantation of intraocular lens.Methods: 90 patients who undergone bilateral phacoemulsification with IOL implantation and 90 age-matched person as control group were involved in this reseach.Age of all of the people were 50-79 years old. Visual acuity or corrected vision all are over 0.8 in both eyes.The refractive state,aniseikonia,fusion,binocular image,near and distant stereoscopic vision and contrast sensitivity function were observed 1 month later after the operation.The control group have the same examination.Results: (l)There were 72 person in operation group and 81 person in control who reached the aniseikonia of 0%~3% (t=1.16,.P>0.05) . (2)The average fusion range was (25.6 ± 8.7)° and ( 27.8 ± 6.7)° respectively( t=1.90,P>0.05). (3)There was more or less far distance stereoacuity 85.6% in operation group and 92.2% in control group.which was no statistical significant(x~2=1.41,P>0.05).Foveal near stereoacuity was established in operation group (75.6%) , which was no statistical significant with control group(80.0%)( x 2=0.29, P >0.05) . (4)The contrast sensitivity values of the 70y was inferior to that of the 50y and 60y.The 50y and 60y was not differ significantly from each other. (5)Either of the group,the CSF enhance in the day glare time ,except for the 12 and 18 cpd of the 70-79 group( t — 0.94 0.44 1.29 0.38, P>0.05);,the CSF decrease in the night glare time in the 1.5 and 3cpd ,at 6cpd there were no difference. (6)In the day time,the operationgroup was similar with the control group at 1.5> 3 and 6cpd;at 12 and 18 cpd showed significant difference (P <0.05) ,except for the 12cpd of the 70-79 group ( t = 0.86 ^ 0.47, P >0.05) .At night, the operation group significantly differ with the control group at 1.5 and 3 cpd (P <0.05) , except for the 3cpd of the 70-79 group ( t =\A> 1.35, P >0.05);at 6cpd there were no difference from each other.Conclusion : (l)Bilateral implantation of IOL provided good binocular vision. (2)The contrast sensitivity function decline with the age. In the daytime,glare source can raise the CSF.At night,glare may reduce the CSF. After operation the patients CSF achieve the normal level, however, lower to that of the age-matched people.
