Objective: To investigate the clinical features and effective therapy methods and prognostic factors of Adult Onset Still's Disease(AOSD). In addition, the clinical significance of serum ferritin in AOSD was also evaluated。Methods: Analyse retrospectively 32 patients with definite AOSD since 2000 to 2005, including their sex, age of onset, clinical features, laboratory values, therapy and prognosis. Results: Out of 32 patients, the ratio of female to male is 1 to 4.3, and the average age of disease onset is 29 years. Fever, rash and arthralgias are the most frequency and typical clinical features of it, with angina , myalgia, lymphadenopathy, hepatomegaly or splenomegaly emerging frequently. Serum acute phase reactants including leucocyte, ESR and C reactive protein often increase evidently, but the specificity of them is low. In addition, serum ferritin levels in AOSD are usually much higher, correlating with disease activity. It can be regarded as a index to inspect disease activity and estimate the effect of therapy. The treatment of AOSD mostly depend on NSAIDs , glucocorticoids andimmunosuppressant, further more, IVIG can be choosed in acute phase. Prognosis of AOSD is positive comparatively, and succedent accessing needs to be strengthened. Conclusion: AOSD is a idiopathic, inflammatory disease that involved multisystem.Serum ferritin may be a noval marker of disease activity.Glucocorticoids and immunosuppressant are the main drugs to control the disease activity and improve the prognosis.
