Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of Cyclin E, p2lWAF1/CIP1 and PCNA in seborrheic keratosis, the relationship of Cyclin E, P21WAF1/CIP1 and PCNA in seborrheic keratosis. Methods: Immunohistochemical methods were adopted to examine the expression of Cyclin E, P21WAF1/CIP1 and PCNA in 45 cases of seborrheic keratosis and 20 cases of normal skin tissues. Results: The positive rate of Cyclin E, P21WAF1/CIP1; PCNA for Seborrheic Keratosis was 46.7%(21/45), 66.7%(30/45), 68.9%(31/45), while the positive rate of Cyclin E, P21WAF1/CIP1, PCNA for the normal skin tissues was 0%(0/20), 20%(4/20), 60.0%(12/20). The over expression rates of Cyclin E and p21WAF1/CIP1 in seborrheic keratosis were significantly higher than those of normal skin tissues. The expression of PCNA was higher than those of normal tissues, but had no statistically significance. It was found that the Cyclin E, p21WAF1/CIP1 and PCNA expression in seborrheic keratosis tissues had no relation to the patients'age, gender, tumor pathological type(P>0.05). Furthermore, the expression of Cyclin E, P21WAF1/CIP1 and PCNA were not related to each other. Conclusion: The expressions of Cyclin E, P21WAF1/CIP1 and PCNA are closely related to the pathogenesis of seborrheic keratosis.
