Objective: The study attempted to investigate psychosocial factors, quality of life cognitive dysfunction and its correlative factors of chronic hemodialysis patients so as to provide scientific evidence for increasing mental health level, quality of life and cognitive capacity. Methods: 61 patients with chronic hemodialysis and 60 normal controls were involved in the study. The data of two groups have no significant difference by banlance test. All the subjects themselves completed the following questionnaires, general condition questionnaire, SCL-90, EPQ, SSRS, SF-36, MMSE, Olson quality of marriage questionnaire, and measured blood routine, biochemistry routine. Results: (1) The total scores of SCL-90, the total average score, the factors scores of somatization, depression, anxiety and other in HD patients were significantly higher than those in the normal subjects. (2) The score of neuroticism in HD patients have positive relationship with the factors scores of SCL-90. (3) Utilization of social support in HD patients was lower than the normal controls. The total scores of social support and the score of subjective social support became lower over time. (4) The total scores of SCL-90 in HD patients have positive relationship with inter-dialysis weigh gain, number of complication and kalrmia concentration, but have negtive relationship with hemoglobin concentration, utilization of social support. (5)The scores of PF RP BP GH VT SF RE MH were significantly lower than the normal subjects. Quality of life in HD patients was associated with age, occupation, marital status, educational level, nutrition and number of complication. (6) sexual life satisfaction in HD patients was lower. (7) The total scores of MMSE in HD patients were significantly lower than the normal controls, and positively related to albumin and hemoglobin concentration, but. negatively related to age, inter-dialysis weigh gain, numbers of complication. Compared to normal controls that orientation, recall , attention and calculation force reached statistically significant level. Conclusions: More number of complication, higher kalrmia concentration and EPQ-N score played an important role on affecting psychological status of HD patients. Personality and social support were interacted by each other, and these factors were involved in influencing the mental health of HD patients. Both psychosocial factors and HD treatment exerted effects on quality of life in HD patients. Cognitive capacity decline in HD patients is closely associated with increased number of complication , lower hemoglobin and Albumin concentration.
