Purpose: To invest the relationship between E-cadherin (E-cad) andβ-catenin (β-cat) expression and the pathological grade, clinical stage and prognosis in bladder transitional cell carcinoma (BTCC). Methods: Apply S-P immunohistochemical technique to detect the expression of E-Cadherin and β-Catenin at 56 urine bladders cancer specimens, and analyse clinical data. The yellow particles inside cell plasma under microsope were positive cell, count five sight continuously, Number of positive cell>90% was positive and <90% was negative. Statistic treatment: all data were input computer and were treated with SPSS10.0 statisticc software. Calcuated data were with X2 test or FISHER test and there was significantly difference when P<0.05 or P<0.01. Results: The abnormal expression rate of E-cad and β-cat was 48.2% and 55.4% respectively. E-cad and β-cat expression was concomitantly either normal or abnormal in 78.6% of tumors, the correlation between E-cad and β-cat expression being highly significant (P<0.01). Either of them or both of them were abnormal expression in 64.3% of tumors. The abnormal expressionrates Of E-cadand β-cat were 15.8%, 50%, 76.2% and 26.3%, 43.8%, 90.5% in G1, G2, G3 of BTCC and were 22.7%, 67.6% and 31.8%, 76.5% in Tis-1, T2-4 tumors. Both their expression were related to the...
