| Objective: To study the adiponectin mRNA expression in omental adipose tissues of type 2 diabetes and their relation with clinical related indexes such as waist circumference(WC), body mass index(BMI), waist-to-hip ratio(WHR), fasting blood glucose(FBG), triglyceride(TG), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-c), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-c), total cholesterol(TC), blood presure and duration, and discuss its function and significance to type 2 diabetes and obese. Methods: The reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method was used to examine the adiponectin mRNA expression level in omental adipose tissues with type 2 diabetes and non-diabetes controls; |FBG, TG, HDL-c, LDL-c, TC of all the subjects| with empty stomach were checked and their blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference were measured to calculate BMI, WHR. Results: Without obvious difference in their BMI, age and sexes constitution ratio, compared with that of non- diabetes group, the adiponectin mRNA expression in omental adipose tissues of the diabetes group decreased remarkably(P <0.05); the expression level of the adiponectin mRNA in omental adipose tissues of the diabetes group was negatively correlated with WC, TG, FBG, WHR(P<0.05). It was founded that the expression level is greatly related to WC, but less related to BMI, HDL-c, LDL-c, TC and their blood pressure; Meanwhile, it was found that the expression level of patients with 5 years' course of illness or more is obviously lower(P<0.01). Conclusion: Type 2 diabetic patients show lower transcription of adiponectin mRNA in omental adipose tissue than that of non-diabetic control. Among the negatively co- rrelated indexes, WC, TG, FBG and WHR, WC has the biggest relativity. The level of adiponectin mRNA in visceral adipose tissue seems to be an important parameter of insulin resistance. Indexes such as WC, BMI, WHR, FBG, TG and Duration can indirectly reflect the level of insulin resistance. What's more, WC can be used as an important index for insulin resistance. Besides, the duration of 5 years' or more can also be an important factor. |
