| Based on theory of ancient document, tutor academic viewpoint and the progress of cerebral ischemia on pathology, the autor have explored the effect and mechanism of electroacupuncture in treating acute cerebral ischemia, According to this, daily electroacupuncture was performed at Baihui, Fengchi to treat this disease. 35patients were treated for 10days, compared with controlled group.The statistical results show that the method of treatment group is superior to that of control group in promoting clinical traditional sympotoms,promoting clinical curative effect, increasing scores of patients' Functional Independence Measure (FIM), increasing the velocity of blood flow which was determined with transcranial Doppler's method (TCD) and promoting blood rheology. Plasma IGF-I concentration in treatment patients was strikingly higher than that in controlled group. Between two groups have remarkable differences (P<0.05). The results in animal experiments which the rat models were made by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCAo) show the number and OD of IGF-I, IGF-IR positive cells in cerebral, Cortex and striatum are significantly increased, as compared with that in controlled group (P<0.05) and in sham-operated group. There are improvement in the score of neurologic grade in treatment group at 7day and 14day after reperfusion when Compared with controlled group.It is suggested that electroacupuncture at Baihui and Fengchi can be effective on treating acute inchemia stroke. This research show that electroacupuncture can induce expression of IGF-I, IGF-IR in cerebral cortex and striatum, and enhance plasma IGF-I concertation of treatment group, Which may be one of the mechanism of accupuncture...
