Background: Small bowel transplantation(SBT) is one of the most effective treatment for short bowel syndrome. However, it is restricted in clinical application ,which are due to both high immunogenic and sensitive to ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI) of intestine. Therefore it is popular to investigate the method of preventing the IRI in transplantation.Although the mechanism of its' protective effect is not fully clarified, Pyruvate (PY), as a energetic substrate, without immunogenic or side-effect, has been proved to be highly effective in protect organs from IRI in case of providing supra-physiologic concentrations of it.These findings suggest PY is a potentially beneficial nutrient in organ transplantation field and its future clinical application should be encouraged.Aims: To investigate the protective effect of PY and its mechanism on small bowel transplanted in rats syngeneic combination(SD to SD) by comparing grafts' grade of tissue injury ,level or activity or express of SCD NF-kB 和 TNF- α IL-6 ICAM-1 at different periods of cold preservation or reperfusion. So can we testfy and explore the protective effect of PY and its mechanism on grafted small bowel.
