Diagnosis And Treatment Of Gastroinstestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST)

Objective: To discuss the diagnosis and treatment of gastroinstestinal stromal tumor(GIST).Methods: The clinical data of 10 patients with GIST were analyzed retrospectively from June to December in 2004. The diagnosis of all patients was confirmed with surgery and pathology.Results:6 males and 4 females were included in this group with mean age of 54.5 years.All the GIST were located in the stomach.The immunohistochemical findings were as follows: CD117,CD34( + )83.3%(5/6 例), SMA, S-100:0(0/6 例).Tumors were diagnosed histopathologically with benign in 2 cases,magligant in 4 cases and borderline in 4 cases.All patients were treated with radical or local resection of tumor.Conclusions:The diagnosis of GIST depends on the combination of light microscopic appearance and pathology or immunohistochemistry. Resection of tumors is the most effective treatment for GIST.
