Objective: In this paper we observed the changes of angiographic appearances and local pathological changes before and after embolizing the Left gastric artery with mitomycin c gelatin microspheres (MMS-MS), the criterion of embolic degree and the occuring of serious complications. By doing above all, we try to offer the theoretical evidence for clinical application.Materials and methods: The left gastric arteries of tabbits were embolized with MMC-MS in varying degrees and the angiography was performed. We observed the angiogrphic appearances and local pathological changes immediately and 6-8h. 24h. 72h. 1w. 2w. 4w after embolizing. Results:Mainly the minute arterioles of tunica mucosa and tela submucosa were embolized. That induced edema and focal necrosis. The muscular and adventitia were intact. With the cegradation of the MMC-MS, the damage of gastric tissue was alleviated. After 4 weeks it became normal. The results of angiography showed that in one week there were no rabbits in which the recanalization of the embolized vessels occurred, but in two weeks there was one, in four weeks there were three.Conclude: The mild or moderate damage of tisse induced by embolizing the left gastric artery with MMC-MS can be recovered and no serious complcations occurred. The appliantion of the MMC-MS is feasible.
