OBJECTIVE:To analyse the biocompatibility and biosafty of artificial fascia preliminarily.METHODS: 1) Haemolysis test:This sdudy was carried out in three groups :(1) experimental group application with artificial fascia ;(2) negativh group application with normal saline;(3) positive group application with distilled water, each group was tested in triplicate .0.2ml diluted rabbit blood with anticoagulant was added to each tested tube. Absorbance of all the tested tubes was measured by a spectrophotpmeter at 545 nm after 90 min .2) Animal experiment Thirty rats were implanted with artificial fascia ,autograft and isograft ,the local histological reaction was observed in different time .3) Micronucleus test : The samples of artificial fascia extraction ,negtive control and passive control groups were injected in to abdomen of the white rats . 6 hours after the last injection ,the sections of bone marrow were made and the micronucleus viewed.RESULTS : 1) Haemolysis rate of sample of artificial fascia was 2.289 % .2) There was no different about the local histological reaction between the artificial fascia and autgraft after 12 weeks .3) There were no significant difference on the rate of the micronucleus between the artificial fascia and the negtive contral group.CONCLUSION: The developed artificial fascia did not exhibit haemolysis effect .there is no potential mutagenicity .The artificial fascia is biocompatible and suitable as graft material.
