Taoism and Chinese Medicine are two great treasures of Chinese original culture. Their integral relationship is a matter of concern in both disciplines, and a field worth of research within Taoism. The author, using his knowledge in the field of Chinese Medicine, based his research on a combination of textual and theoretical sources. Using a wide range of Taoist texts and under the guidance of his advisor, the author combined historical and logical analyses to investigate the common origins and palhs of development within Taoism and Chinese Medicine. Careful attention was paid to both Taoist characteristics within Chinese Medicine, as well as certain medical terms and processes found within Taoism. Not only from a philosophical approach but also common thoughts and concepts were discussed. This dissertation summarizes their mutual influence throughout the years, and the non-stop enrichment and intermingling of both Taoism and Chinese Medicine.
