The Study On Mechanism Of Acupuncture On Insulin Resistance In The Type 2 Diabetic Rats

Objective: To study the effect of acupuncture on insulin resistance(IR) and its mechanism in type 2 diabetes.Method: The model of type 2 diabetic rats was divided into three groups: the diabetic rats without treatment, the diabetic rats with acupuncture-treatment, the diabetic rats with metformin-treatment and the normal controls. After forty days,the blood samples were collected to evaluate TNF- α, CRP, IL-6 and PAI-1 by using ELISA .Results: (1) The fasting plasma glucose(FPG), fasting plasma insulin(FINS), HomaIR of the diabetic rats with acupuncture-treatment and diabetic rats with metformin-treatment were accompanied by a significant decrease (P<0.01,P<0.05) and marked increase of insulin action index(IAI), HomaCI in comparison to the diabetic rats without treatment (P<0.01,P<0.05).(2) The total cholesterol(TC) , plasma triglycerides(TG) , low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) of the diabetic rats with acupuncture-treatment and diabetic rats with metformin-treatment were accompanied by a significant decrease in comparison to diabetic rats without treatment (P<0.01,P<0.05).But these datas had no obvious difference in comparison to the normal controls (P>0.05 ) .The high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) of the diabetic rats with acupuncture-treatment was remarkably higher than the diabetic rats with metformin-treatment and diabetic rats withouttreatment(P<0.01,P<0.05).In opposition,the HDL-C of the the diabetic rats with metformin-treatment and diabetic rats without treatment was markedly lower than the normal controls (P<0.01).(3) The TNF- α , IL-6, CRP, PAI-1 of the diabetic rats with acupuncture-treatment and the diabetic rats with metformin-treatment were significantly lower than the diabetic rats without treatment (P<0.01 , P<0.05),these data had no obvious diference in comparision to the normal controls (P>0.05) . (4)Single factor analysis showed that HomaIR had remarkable correlation with TNF-α, IL-6 CRP> PAI-1 TC, TG, LDL-C (P<0.01, P<0.05) . Moreover, inflammation factors had also correlation each other(P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion: (1) Acupuncture may lower plasma glucose , plasma insulin and improve IR,as well as the metformin.(2) The mechanism of IR improvement with acupuncture trentment may have correlation with decrease of inflammation factors .(3) Acupuncture can improve lipid metabolic disorder significantly and superier to the metformin in increasing HDL-C.
